Planter for open balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows
The innovation: The Array-Planter planter developed by us offers the ideal solution for planting railings on open balconies or floor-to-ceiling windows:
- space-saving positioning between the struts of the bar railing
- simple and safe installation from the inside of the railing without any tools
- minimal space requirement, therefore also suitable for railings in front of floor-to-ceiling windows
- supports the natural growth direction of plants by positioning them in the ground area of the railing
- forms a natural privacy screen - without impairing the view
- uses the struts of the railing as a climbing aid or to stabilize long-stemmed plants.
With the Array Planter, the transparency of railings is not lost. On the contrary, the planting and the railing form a visual unit.
Open balconies with bar railings: Open balconies are a simple and elegant balcony design in which the balustrade is largely transparent. The railings of such balconies are often designed as bar railings, i.e. vertical bars arranged at regular intervals between an upper and a lower crossbeam. The so-called French balconies, which are particularly common in inner-city areas and are characterized by their very small floor area, are a special type of construction.
Floor-to-ceiling windows: In modern new builds, floor-to-ceiling windows are a popular way of letting plenty of light into the interior of the building and creating an unobstructed view to the outside. If the windows can also be opened, they are often secured with a visually unobtrusive bar railing, whereby the distance between the window and the railing is usually very small. Balcony boxes on the railing rail are often a nuisance, as they divide up the generous window area.
Unobstructed view: With open balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows, there is often a desire not to obstruct the view outside. Traditional balcony boxes at the height of the railing, on the other hand, can be a nuisance as they are placed right in the line of sight. With open balconies and sufficient space on the balcony, planters are therefore often placed in the floor area of the railing. In the case of floor-to-ceiling windows, there are currently no practical alternatives, so these usually remain unplanted.
Natural privacy screen: The desire for a privacy screen seems to stand in the way of an unobstructed view through bar railings. In this case too, planting in the floor area of the railing of open balconies offers a very practical and discreet solution, as the view is hardly impaired. For floor-to-ceiling windows, on the other hand, comparable options for planting in the floor area have not been available until now.
Securing balcony planters: When attaching planters to balcony railings, it is generally important to ensure that the planters do not fall down even in strong winds or storms. Classic balcony boxes therefore usually have to be attached to the railing rail using various more or less elaborate aids. The Array Planter grips the railing strut and is therefore secured against falling.
